Teens How do You Know if You're an Indigo? 05/20/2010
![]() Photo from Stock Exchange Some teens feel as if they don't fit in and they usually are loners who stick to themselves because it's less painful. Some teens are super sensitive (emotionally) which can be an issue because other teens can be cruel and you're easily hurt. Or, you pick up on the emotions (empathetic) which are not yours. This can wreak havoc on your life if you're unaware of what's happening to you. What does indigo mean? Indigos are highly intelligent, curious, strong willed, allergic to authority, independent, and often thought of as weird by family and friends. Indigos tend to be loners because they can't find friends that resonate with them. Or, they're drawn to other indigos and hang out with them. Indigos have warrior spirits. This helps them with their purpose which is to smash old systems that no longer serve mankind or haven't served mankind. They'll question and stomp out government, educational and legal systems, and anything that lacks honesty and integrity. Indigos have a fiery determination with a temper to match it! Signs of being an indigo 1. Super sensitive. 2. Allergic to authority. 3. Have a disdain for unethical behaviors. 4. Have a strong feeling to ripping down established systems that are riddled with deceit, lies, lack of integrity, and don't serve mankind. 5. Are able to pick out dishonest people in a crowd. There's no use in lying to you because you're a "human" lie detector. 6. Highly intuitive. 7. Tend to be loners. 8. Can't disregard your feelings (no reason to do this) or pretend that everything's okay. It's been said that indigos have been appearing on Earth for the last 100 years or so. The early indigo children are considered to be the trail blazers for those who have followed them. A significant number of indigos were born after World War II. In the 1970s another wave of indigo children was born. This means these indigos are now in their late twenties and thirties (me) and are getting ready to step up to leadership roles. Indigos were born up to 2000; they have amazing technological and creative advancements. Unfortunately, many teens (and adults) don't know they're indigo or their families don't know how to handle it. This is why so many teens are misdiagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder) or ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). You then become medicated which numbs your spiritual gifts, sensitivity, and warrior energy. If you're indigo, chances are you know when someone is lying to you. You can't stand manipulators or people who patronize you or others. Indigos are strong because of their warrior spirit and this can be threatening to others. Dysfunctional situations won't work for indigos. This means you'll feel icky at school or home because of the negative energy. Unless you're medicated, there's no way you'll be able to disregard your feelings and pretend everything's all right. You could be an indigo child and may not even know it. You may want to get Doreen Virtue's book The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children. This book can help you embrace who you are and clean up your diet because what you eat will affect you. Love who you are -- know that you're not alone! Add Comment Teens Develop Your Spirituality 04/21/2010
![]() Photo by Cecile Graat Spirituality seems to have taken the world by storm. Every time you turn around there's this or that guru who claims he or she can help you become enlightened. Some of them are scams; be careful that you aren't fooled by a person's cure all for your problems. Spirituality is different from religion." Read more of the Wiki on spirituality. Spirituality differs from religion which is "...a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a supernatural agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs." How to Cope When Your Friend Dies 02/17/2010
Both my niece (16 years-old) and nephew (13 years-old) have lost a lot of friends in the past couple of years. Yesterday, my mom informed me that my niece lost a friend to open heart surgery; she became sick and died. My nephew lost a friend who was cleaning his rifle -- it went off and killed him. Why a 13 year-old was cleaning a rifle is beyond me. Why he was handling a rifle without parental supervision is also beyond me. It's bad enough teens must deal with the death of loved ones but to lose your friends is another situation. How do you cope when you lose someone who's not only your own age, but your friend? Teens probably have many questions about "why" their friend had to die. When it's a senseless death like a self-inflicted gunshot, it only makes matters worse. Tips to coping with death 1. Grieve. Make sure you take time to grieve for your friend. There is no time limit on grief. You'll know when you've finished grieving for your friend. Remember, your friend is not really gone. They may be physically gone, but spiritually they live on somewhere else. 2. Remember the good times. To help you cope with the death of your friend, remember how much fun they were -- this will make you smile. They'd want you to be happy, it's ok to laugh and smile when you remember your friend. 3. Let the tears flow. Whenever you feel like crying, just do it. Yes, guys it's all right for you to cry. This is a great way to release and purge your emotions. 4. Workout your emotions. If you have a lot of anger, release your intense emotions by working out. Kick boxing, karate, hiking, running, yoga, or whatever you like will help you heal. It's cathartic to release your emotions. Let all your emotions out in a healthy way. 5. Journal. Writing your thoughts and articulating your feelings in a journal can be therapeutic. Hold nothing back when you journal -- let it all out. You can draw and write in your journal to express your emotions about your friend's death. Life doesn't always make sense. Sometimes events occur that are beyond our control. You can only control you react situations. When you lose a friend you'll go through the grieving process which includes: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Allow the process to occur because you'll heal from your friend's death. Your emotions will eat you alive if you don't grieve. Your body can manifest your emotions with a dis-ease. This is no way to grieve for your friend. Coping with teen death is not easy for anyone. Parents lose a child and you lose a best friend. No, it doesn't make any sense, but that's life. Make sure you live each day to the fullest because you never know what lies around the corner. ![]() Teens face many issues today such as peer pressure to drink or do drugs, have a body image that doesn't fit them, getting perfect grades, and following a faith that may resonate with them. Teenagers may be pressured into disrespecting another teen's religion from their friends. Everyone has a right to practice their religion; at least in the U.S. they do. Religious diversity is important. Who says that your religion is the best? If it was, the world wouldn't have all the problems it has today. This is something for you to think about before you bully someone because they practice a different faith. Ask questions, search online, go to the library, and get the facts before you condemn someone. Unfortunately, some teens can be cruel. Remember, most people have a fear of the unknown. A teen who wears a special garment that is part of their faith is susceptible to bullying by those who do not understand the religion. No one deserves to be bullied because of their religion. It's ignorant to pick on someone because they are different. Instead, get to know the teen. Who knows, you may become friends! Every teen has the right to practice whatever faith they want. On the flip side, teens have the right not to believe in any religion. If you're an Atheist, embrace it. Who's to say that you're right or wrong? You can believe whatever you want to believe. Teens, embrace religious diversity. Many people, including your parents, will push their religion onto you. When you're little you don't know any better. However, when you get older, know that it's all right to question your family's religion. Hopefully, you have parents that will allow you to choose your own religion. If not, do it anyway and do not tell them! Where is God? 07/19/2009
![]() There are many people out there who are teaching spirituality. It's God this, God that, and everything in between. Some people believe that GOD is a mean, nasty old man who will punish you if you do wrong. Others believe that God is all loving and forgives you no matter what you do or how you act. Let's examine the latter. If God loves and forgives, what is the reason that many people, especially children suffer in the world? Perhaps you're one of those children. If God is wants his "children" to be and feel loved; to be healthy and prosperous; and to be victorious, what is the reason for all the unrest in the world? Where is God? What kind of God would make children suffer? This is something I don't understand because I believe children are innocent. Without proper guidance or direction they can grow up, get off course, and run amok with their life! I was pondering the "Where is God?" question while I was in the park today. You see, I'm one of those people that decided that I was tired of being sick and tired in my miserable life. I started reading the bible (I know) and books by Napoleon Hill, Louise Hay, Esther and Jerry Hicks, and many others. I also read The Secret and later viewed the movie. I wanted to "change my thoughts so I could change my life." I'll let you in on a little secret; I'm still working on it! Where is God when people judge each other? What gives another the right to judge his fellow man or women? If you find yourself judging someone, you're really judging yourself. It's called the mirror reflection. What you don't like in another is reflected back to you. Where is God when you're going through horrific events in your life? What kind of God would allow children all over the world suffer in poverty? If we're all God's children and he wants us to live an abundant life, what's the reason that so many struggle from day to day? Where is God in addiction? Perhaps you know someone that is struggling with an addiction. What kind of God would allow a person to shoot heroin or smoke crack? I would think a loving and understanding God would "cure" a person of an addiction. Maybe they must ask for that first. Where is God in your life? Sometimes I feel like he/she has abandons me for an extended vacation! The point to all of this is that we ALL go through the "where is God?" line of questioning in our lives -- even me! We do our best to keep the faith but it gets more difficult with each passing day. Thank God for art and music! I'll leave you with this question to ponder: Where is God?
